Larridin, the a16z-backed startup founded by serial entrepreneur Russ Fradin, debuted a suite of tools that map AI token usage to engineering output for B2B companies Saastr article. Its first benchmark, drawn from four weeks ending 2 August 2026, shows a median engineer draws $213 a week in billed AI-coding spend, while the 90th percentile reaches $911 a week—a spread of more than tenfold. Annualized, the top-tier spend approaches $47,000 per engineer.
The data also links spend to productivity. Engineers whose work is 79 % AI-attributed (deeply AI-native) achieve 11.8× output at roughly $1,300 a week, outpacing partial adopters who see diminishing returns after $600 a week. Low-AI users (≤15 % AI-attributed) plateau around 1.9× output across a $21-$421 weekly spend range. Output is measured by model-assessed PR complexity, quality adjustments and code churn.
