Atlassian’s Head of AI, Sherif Mansour, told SaaStr that the company has integrated generative AI into more than 20 applications—six of them built in the gen-AI era—serving over 5 million regular users. The rollout, described in a recent session, also drove changes to product development and hiring practices (source).

Initially, adding Rovo chat to Jira, Confluence and other apps faced internal pushback, but a required chat backend was repurposed and deployed across the suite. User prompts such as grouping whiteboard notes evolved into a button feature, a backlog-creation workflow, and an agent-only tool, with millions now using the chat daily.

Two and a half years ago the team bolted a single Rovo agent step onto Jira’s automation designer. Customers expanded it with branching, conditions and chained agents—e.g., a ticket triggering a marketing agent that calls Canva, then a social agent that posts assets—demonstrating that any human-centric workflow can be replicated for agents.
